I enjoy all kinds of puzzles. I am a member of the National Puzzlers' League, the oldest English-language wordplay organization, dating back to the 19th century. I've had more than 40 puzzles published in the Enigma over the years.
Probably my strongest puzzle skill is with the abstract logic and math-based puzzles of the World Puzzle Championship. I have placed in the top 20 in the qualifying test for the US team every year since the current system opened in 1999, in the top 10 most years, and qualified for the team in 2004. That year in Croatia we won the team title and I finished 19th in the world.
In 2007 my team (Palindrome) won the MIT Mystery Hunt and I wrote 4 of the many puzzles used as we ran the Hunt in 2008. In 2009 I was on a new team (Beginner's Luck) with some of my Palindrome friends, some other friends, and some new faces. We won again.
